The sixth curated international portfolio viewing featuring young emerging European photographers will be held on the weekend of 27 to 29 January 2012. As in the previous years, they have invited 42 photographers to present their work for two hours to the public and a selected team of experts. The participants have been chosen from among some 140 nominated photographers. Plat(t)form 2012 is aimed at professionals such as curators, gallery owners, publishers, editors and photographers. At the same time the event offers interested visitors an opportunity of discovering the work of young photographers and artists and of meeting them in person.

The Book-Launch will be accompanied by a small exhibition and a short introduction of the work. For the 200 people that ordered the publication in advance: your copy will be there ready to be picked up. When you can't make it, it will be posted to you on the next day. 83 Days of Darkness
Every winter between 11 November and 2 February the sun fails to rise above the slopes of the Alps leaving the North Italian village of Viganella completely in shadow during this period of the year. It is suffering from an exodus of its population. Therefore a large computer-operated mirror has been erected some 500 meters up the slope above the village just to reflect the sunlight onto the village for some seven hours a day.
In the mountain regions old laws have always reigned relations between man and nature. But now it is man that wants to prevail over it all. Working the hardest rocks or climbingthe highest heights.

Niels Stomps in the end of the world NY-Alesund
Until the 11th of April Niels will be in Ny-Ålesund to work on the second last phase of the Svalbard project. In May this year the final visit will take place when he can photograph in the global Seeds Vault in Longyearbyen.
Further north than Niels originally thought was possible, there is a permanent settlement of 35 scientist and one cook who lives and work in Ny-Ålesund. These scientsit are from all over the world and conducting research and looking for something. To Niels they can be seen as modern day explores and there work will be the main subject of this project that he started in 2008.
